Where Psychology Falls Far and Short

by Martin and Deidre Bobgan Since God has already given unto us "all things that pertain unto life and godliness" (2 Peter 1:3), Christians do not need the psychological wisdom of men. They already have the truth of God. They do not need to seek solutions to life’s problems from the Freudian, Jungian, Adlerian, Rogerian psychologies or any other such counseling psychology. Psychotherapy has greatly distorted and damaged the faith once delivered unto the saints, falling far from Scripture by giving psychological substitutes for the truths of the Gospel. Prior to the Second World War mental health practitioners (psychotherapists) were almost nonexistent. By the early 1960s 14% of the U.S. population had received mental health treatment. Since that time the numbers have increased to over 50% of the American population. One writer said: Probably no single individual has had a more prof

THINKING OF A CHRISTIAN COLLEGE?

Image
Better Check It Out Thoroughly! It is a commonly held opinion that if parents send their children to a “Christian college” they will be protected from the world and false teaching. Unfortunately, this is not always the case, and may in fact be rare today. Indeed, one “Christian college,” at which the author is a student, teaches liberal concepts that are against clear Biblical teaching. Theistic evolution is espoused by at least two members of the Science department and several of the Bible professors as well. The film, The Last Temptation of Christ, was shown as a course requirement (supposedly to display the world’s view of Christ). After this created much controversy among some of the students and their parents, the President issued an apology and requested that the professors stop showing the film. New Testament principles are openly attacked both in the classroom and in the college’s chapel service. “Higher criticism” is subtly invoked to question the validity of basic Christian

Christ Can Change Our Attitudes

Introduction: Romans 12:2 “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (NKJV). Do not be conformed to this age, fashioned after its external and superficial customs. But be transformed (changed) by the renewal of your mind – by its new ideals and its new attitude .. .. (Amplified Bible)         The Christian has a new way of thinking about everything, because he judges himself, and has God, Christ, the Holy Spirit and the  brethren in his thoughts. He thinks altogether differently from the natural man. (C.A. Coates) The attitude of the world and the attitude of the Christian are very different. Here are a few examples: 1. The World Says: Have A High Self-Esteem. Romans 12:3 “For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a me

NOT WRATH BUT RAPTURE

by H. A. Ironside What Is Meant by the Term “The Great Tribulation”?       The careful student of the prophetic scriptures cannot fail to observe that in both the Old and New Testaments the Spirit of God speaks of a trial involving the pouring out of divine wrath on men.       This is known as “the great tribulation,” “the time of Jacob’s trouble,” “the coming hour of temptation,” “the day of the Lord,” and other terms. This specific period of judgement is clearly distinguished from the ordinary trials and tribulations to which the people of God have been subjected in all dispensations, and which are promised to the church of God at the present time. “In the world,” said our Blessed Lord, “ye shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer. I have overcome the world.” “We must,” declared the apostle Paul, “through much tribulation enter the kingdom of God.” Speaking for all saints, Paul could say, “We glory in tribulation.” So long as Satan is the god of this world and believers
