All The Musicians In New Testament Churches

NONE In the New Testament Christians sang, and still do. The redeemed sing in heaven, but there are no bands, worship teams, keyboards, speakers, microphones, and none of the pop music paraphernalia. No showmanship. No concerts. No albums. Nothing even similar.   None of this is anywhere in the New Testament. The model being followed is from the world.  How many of the apostles took musical instruments with them when they went out preaching the gospel to the nations? How many gave concerts or music services? NONE. Today's music emphasis in evangelical churches came from the world, not the Scriptures. The platform in many church buildings looks similar or equal to the stage in a nightclub or discotheque, with instruments like electric guitars, keyboards, drum sets, microphones, etc. Brethren, no one wants to say it, for fear of losing the young people, but music in many churches has become the tail that wags the dog. Ironside on Musical Instruments In Church Meetings

The following from the pen of Mr. H. A. Ironside, in his book: Lectures on Daniel , pages 47-50, “The special place given to the great orchestra is very noticeable; as much so as in large worldly religious gatherings at the present time. It excites the emotions, and thus, working upon the feelings, gives people a sense of devotion and religiousness, which after all may be very unreal. In the Old Testament dispensation musical instruments were used in the ornate temple services; but there is certainly no warrant for it in the New Testament. People may call it worship to sit and listen to a trained, and possibly unconverted, choir and orchestra rendering sweet and touching strains; but music simply acts upon the sensuous part of our natures, and has nothing to do with true adoration of the Father and the Son, which must be in spirit and truth to be acceptable to God.
