Discernment Needed: The Church is NOT Israel
Replacement Theology teaches that the church takes the place of Israel, that God is finished with Israel and that today believers are a "spiritual Israel" or "the Israel of God" (Gal. 6:16). These errors are common in Reformed/Covenant theology, which has its roots in Roman Catholicism. The Roman Catholic church also believes that she takes the place of Israel. Strangely, all these seek to supersede Israel in the blessings but not in the curses and judgments. Confused thinking about Israel, the Gentiles and the Church has brought great confusion and done untold harm. The latest aberration is "Christian Palestinianism," which would recognize "Palestine" (Latin word for "Philistine") and give them the land that God gave to Israel forever. C. I.
