LOST IN THE CROWD?

LOST IN THE CROWD

In this day of mass movements it is easy to overlook the individual. Sometimes it seems as though people are just cogs in a machine without any sense of personal recognition – useful while doing a job of work, but easily replaced and forgotten.
In one realm however, every man is “himself,” in the spiritual realm. Each has to have personal dealings with God. There is no such things as being lost in the crowd with Him. The Bible individualizes us. It says, “All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23) and adds, “There is none righteous, no not one” (Romans 3:10).
The point is this; there are many who will acknowledge that ALL have sinned, who are not so willing to say, “I have sinned.”  But the Bible is quite clear. Sin is individual, and carries an individual accountability.
As an individual you were born into this world; as an individual you have lived your life; as an individual you have sinned and as an individual you will have to give account of yourself to God (Romans 14:12). You cannot be lost in the crowd.
“In a world of teeming millions – does God really care about the individual?” you ask. Yes, He does! “God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him, should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). God’s love reaches out to the world, but response to that love is an individual thing; each one must have personal dealings with God. That God is concerned about individuals is clearly shown in the Bible, which says, “There is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents” (Luke 15:10). The Apostle Paul put it like this, “The Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me” (Galatians 2:20).
Are you willing to face up to the Word of God when it tells you of your sin? Are you willing to accept the fact that God loves you – that Christ died in your stead? Are you prepared to go further and ask the Lord Jesus Christ to save you from the consequence of your sin? Without a doubt there are those who will laugh if you are serious about these matters. But bear in mind that they will not carry the consequences of your sin against God when you ultimately appear before Him – you will, unless Christ becomes your personal Lord and Saviour now. Cry out in your heart, “Lord, save me” (Matthew 14:30). “God, be merciful to me, a sinner” (Luke 18:13). Take Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, and you will find that salvation is a very real and personal thing.
